Gaia refers to the Greek Goddess of the Earth and to James Lovelocks "Gaian hypothesis". He is a scientist credited with the idea that the Earth has intelligence and functions as a total organism. Obviously our Earth is under a lot of stress right now and we don't know what the outcome will be. Death and destruction are a possibility. An alternative is the Birth of a new way of living, a new way of relating with our planet. This is what Gaia is waiting for: the birth of a new Gaia, a new awareness, a paradigm shift. A way to make it possible for humans to live in peace with our home, our environment, our resources and with each other… The image is pregnancy: everyone knows that something inside is growing; something new, something promising, something miraculous. Only 'Nature' knows how long the pregnancy will last. We wait, trusting, in love already with the new unborn Gaia.
